Weekend Writing Warriors: Snippet 124- Gwynneth
It’s time for Weekend Writing Warriors! Every Sunday, a bunch of writers post 8-10-sentence snippets from their WIPs on their blogs. There’s a lot of reading, commenting and great writing. Click on the link to see the full list.
More from Fall of the Titan, which is almost ready to go to beta readers! Last week, Braeden and Devyn’s young friend Trisa had been badly wounded in battle, and was going into surgery. Braeden, Gwynneth and Devyn have been waiting to hear how it went. The doctor finally appears: (creatively punctuated)
by“She’s survived the surgery at least. The wound wasn’t terribly deep, but it’s hard to say how much damage was done; we’ll know more in the next few days.”
“I must see her,” Devyn said.
The doctor shook his head, then paused when he saw Devyn’s determined expression, “She must rest and have quiet.”
“I’ll be quiet,” Devyn said, “I swear it.”
“Will he be quiet?” the doctor asked Gwynneth, “I will not have the young lady disturbed in any way.”
“He’ll be quiet,” Gwynneth said, giving Devyn a stern look, “You may sit by her bed, but you must not speak. At all. Can you do that?”
“I can,” Devyn said, then added, “I don’t talk all the time, you know.”
LOL at his last line. Though, I love his concern. Great snippet! 🙂
He loves to talk, so this is quite a sacrifice!
Trisa has a strong-minded friend. Or maybe lover?
Well, he’s 13 and she’s 17, so he has a crush, while she thinks of him as a nice kid. 😀
Haha, love that last line.
I started Hammer of the Gods yesterday, so I’m slowly catching up. 😉
Yay! Hope you enjoy. 🙂
Lol. I’m wondering if he can stick to his promise.
He will make great sacrifices for his friend!
lol, not all the time. Just most of it. 🙂 Nice glimpse into his affection for her.
I love that last line, Christina. Such an outrage against his sensibility 😉
Like many 13-year-olds, he’s not fond of criticism!
lol – love the last line.
Tweeted.
Nice bit of levity at the end. Devyn is developing into another great character.
Young love may be denied. So dear and sweet, Christina.
Lovely exchange! Can he make good on that promise though?
Good for Devyn – he’s a loyal friend. Enjoyed the ecerpt!
LOL! Love that…we’ll see if he can manage it.
We’re all in agreement–the last line is great!
Waiting for that book! Bring it on, sista!
It’s coming! just waiting for approval on your print copy now.
Good for him!
In my experience, many 13 year old boys are not very talkative. So perhaps he can keep quiet. He’s clearly worried about his friend.
Devyn is an exception in just about every way. But he’ll do the right thing.
That promise would be a little more believable if it had been made with a simple ‘yes.’ But maybe he’ll manage quiet, after all.
He needs to get his words in while he still can! 🙂
That was a great excerpt, haha. Can’t wait to see if he actually is quiet.
Thank You!
He he, I love Devyn. 😀
Sounds like a challenge. I’m sure he can control himself. *titter*
Sweet scene. I’m sure silence is a small price to pay for being allowed in the room.
