I Have Maps!
While I scramble to make my Amazon pre-order deadline (and curse my impulsiveness), my marvelous map artist stepped up and got these done for me extra quickly. If these look suspiciously European/German, it’s because they are! With a few key modifications. (sorry, England/Denmark/Norway) I’m keeping details very scanty right now, mostly so I don’t have to commit myself to any specific locations beyond the first book.

These are beautiful, Christina 🙂 You should be very proud!
Thank you! The artist was a lot of fun to work with- I’ll definitely use her again as I add more details.
Oh wow! Those are so helpful. It would have added so much to the story to have had those visuals in mind. They’re going to be the perfect addition to the book. Great job!
Yeah, at the time you started reading, I had an unholy mess in MS paint that I kept having to change. I sent the whole thing to the artist and she sorted it out quickly. It’ll make things a lot easier going forward.
When I made the maps for 2013’s NaNoWriMo shifters novel, they were cobbled together in Visio using the maps template and taking certain countries (that I can’t currently remember) and tilting them into interesting shapes to make my world. It’s great fun, and boy can I get distracted! Fortunately, this time, I was working on them after November as a way to avoid other things. I even printed them out and colored them in with colored pencils to denote desert, mountain ranges, forests, rivers, etc. That was great fun! 🙂 Congrats on getting them done!
It’s definitely fun to tinker with them, but you’re right about the distraction potential. I’d probably have even more fun if I had tiny bit of artistic ability.
All of this is very exciting, Christina. I love the way you created the maps! I will keep that in mind. Congrats to you!!!
