Weekend Writing Warriors: Snippet 58- Gwynneth
It’s time for Weekend Writing Warriors! Every Sunday, a bunch of writers post 8-10-sentence snippets from their WIPs on their blogs. There’s a lot of reading, commenting and great writing. Click on the link to see the full list.
I realize we’ve abandoned poor Gwynneth for a while. She’s been having a rough time. At least, rough for someone who’s used to having everything go her way. Kendryk stubbornly refuses to attack Teodora and has left Gwynneth behind while he works on his defenses, Father Landrus glares at her disapprovingly whenever she’s nice to the cavalry officers staying in her palace, and now Arian Orland is making a pass at her. He’s caught her on her own, and has declared his love. Gwynneth isn’t buying it. Slight creative punctuation has occurred.
“I’ve never fallen in love like this before, Princess. It’s rather upsetting,” he said with a dramatic sigh.
“It should take more than that to upset you. I’ve heard you are accomplished at this sort of thing.”
“Rumors are cruel. People don’t understand.”
“What is there to understand? You have a habit of seducing ladies and leaving them.”
“That was in the past; I’m a happily married man now. Or rather, I was, until I met you.”
Seems legit.Or not.

Oh, my gosh, he’s such a bad boy. I’m glad Gwynneth isn’t buying it.
Oh my! I’m glad she sees through him. He sounds horrid!
He’s awful, but also very good-looking so he’s used to getting away with this crap. 🙂
I don’t feel one bit sorry for G. She brought it on herself! (Grin) I’m not getting your notifications again. I’m having A LOT of problems with my blog. I’ve now gotten the Support folk involved. So if I missed anything, dearie, forgive me. Love to Ben and the four-footed children. 😀
Aw, you’re so mean to poor, poor, G! 🙂 Hope you get your blog problems straightened out.
Oh, Arian. There are a lot of things I could say about you, but I wouldn’t want to spoil it for everyone else. >:)
What a weasel! The nerve…
Wonderful characterization, Christina!
LOL! Got just a bit of tension going on here! Will be interested to see how this conversation progresses–I’m not supposing Gwynneth will be too kind to him, but I probably wouldn’t be either.
I wouldn’t “buy” him either.
Kick him in the butt and send him home with a note to his wide.
Haha! She should. But will she?
Those lines are way too smooth to be believable. I’m glad she isn’t buying them!
Yeah, he’s a little too sure of himself. 🙂
Good for Gwynneth, I love the way she sees right through him. And his line of hogwash LOL. Great excerpt!
Yeah, he’s quite the BS artist!
I applaud the scruples he professes, though I rather doubt he’ll follow through with them.
Yeah, scruples aren’t very real to him. He’ll say whatever sounds good.
Ooh, “until I met you.” I hope she’s not buying it. Great scene!
Not buying it–yet. 🙂 Thanks!
