Weekend Writing Warriors: Snippet 42- Gwynneth
It’s time for Weekend Writing Warriors! Every Sunday, a bunch of writers post 8-10-sentence snippets from their WIPs on their blogs. There’s a lot of reading, commenting and great writing. Click on the link to see the full list.
Let’s abandon Janna and Anton to the war-torn countryside for a little while, shall we? I’m sure nothing bad will happen while we’re away.*shiftyeyes*
When we last checked in with the others, Father Landrus, renegade priest, had just been convicted of heresy and sentenced to death. Empress Teodora plans to pack him off to her capital of Atlona for a big public execution in hopes of frightening everyone else into a submissive silence.. Kendryk despairs, but Gwynneth hasn’t given up. At dinner, she explains to Kendryk that Atlona is threatened by a rebel warlord.
“Word is that Andor Korma has crossed the border and is making for Atlona. Even if Teodora leaves today, she might not get there before he does.”
“I don’t see how that helps us, though I don’t mind seeing her inconvenienced,” Kendryk said, still glum.
“It helps us because she’ll be distracted and in a hurry to get back. So you should be able to act and get away with it.”
He shook his head. “You amaze me. Exactly what can we do at this point?”
Gwynneth pushed her plate away and took a long drink of wine. “You rescue Father Landrus and take him back to Terragand.”
C’mon Kendryk, it’ll be fun! Where’s your sense of adventure? Previous snippets are here.
In other news, in case you missed me wallpapering the internet with it, I have a cover! Ain’t it shiny?
And in other other news, I’ve already created a cabin for July’s Camp NaNoWriMo. I’ll either be editing Valley of the Shadow, or first drafting book three: Hammer of the Gods. In April, we had several WeWriWa folks in our cabin and everyone hit their goal. It was great. So if you want to join this time, just let me know in the comments and I’ll send you an invite.

Great looking cover, Christina. Congratulations!
Supercongrats on the cover, Christina.
Congrats on the cover! It’s gorgeous! And as usual, the snippet is great. Lots of clever plotting, and of course, you had to leave on a sentence that would have us begging for more. 😉
Aw, thanks! I think everyone gets excited when it looks like Kendryk might actually do something.
This snippet makes me very happy. I knew Kendryk wouldn’t sit on the sidelines for long. Awesome cover!
Thank you! He’s got to do something- kicking and screaming- but he’ll do it. 🙂
Awesome cover–and awesome plan for a priest rescue!
I wish I could Nano again with you, but July is looking to be impossible. Have fun! Break a pencil! 😀
Thanks! Well, hopefully you’ll be busy having fun in July.
Tee-hee… while the cat was away, the mice play(ed) havoc on the kingdom. Teodora has a bit more to handle than she hoped
Just what I hoped for, a plan to rescue the priest.
Super cover. Keep writing.
Thank you! It’s about time Kendryk caused some trouble.
Great cover! and Come on Kendryk get into action!
Dramatic cover – congratulations! Well today’s snippet does seem to offer some hope for poor Landrus. Can’t wait to see what Kendryk says and does. Great snippet!
Thank you!
I like this plan, but I’m not sure the Father is going to go along with it. Maybe if they bop him upside the head first…
Yeah, he’s a tough customer, but at this point he really needs help.
Hmmm…she has the easy part done–the talking. 🙂 It sounds like it could hairy securing Father Landrus’ freedom… 🙂 Good 8, Christina.
Oooh, sounds like Gwynneth has proposed a dangerous mission. Good luck to them. So intriguing, I love it!
