Camp NaNoWriMo Wrap-up

camp nanowrimoOkay, I realize that there are still another nineteen hours or so left for Camp NaNoWriMo in my time zone, but I don’t know how much more I’ll write before midnight. Lately, I’ve started writing AT midnight, night-owl that I am, so I won’t be able to count it.

That’s okay. After a rough start, I turned it around and managed to write EXACTLY 62,000 words. That’s another reason I don’t want to write more- it would be a shame to mess up such a nice, even number.  I mostly have my awesome cabin to thank for that. Made up of Weekend Writing Warriors and Monthly Writing Challenge folks, they were a constant source of support and inspiration. As of this moment, nearly everyone in the cabin made their goal, and we blew the cabin goal out of the water, collectively writing over 317,000 words! How awesome is that?

So, while I had to downsize from my original goal of 75K, I still had a very good month. Did I finish my book? Well, no. But I’m somewhere around the 75% mark, so maybe another few weeks will give me a completed first draft.  Now I just need to keep up the momentum.

If at all possible, I’ll be back for July camp to draft the third book. Or I might take a break of sorts and crank out a novella or three.

    • Thank you! I was thinking of writing prequels for some of the main characters using all the backstory I have. Maybe start with Kendryk, then Teodora. Though I’m also anxious to start Book 3. Hopefully I’ll figure it out by then.
